India will generate 1000MW by 2013 26/07/2010
India will generate 1,000 MW of solar energy by 2013, with financial assistance from the Power Finance Corp and Rural Electrification Corp, in the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. Under the guidelines, projects must be 5 MW or more.
To have greater involvement of the developers of solar energy, only one application is allowed per company (including its parent, subsidiary or group companies) for the development of a unique project.
Power companies have welcomed this step by the government. These guidelines are intended to facilitate speedy implementation of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
